Post Operative Acupuncture

ImagePostoperative Acupuncture - Case Study. Acupuncture is a very effective treatment protocol for postoperative situations. It improves recovery time, reduces down time and speeds up healing.

Many surgical procedures require prolonged down time for recovery. From simple Rhinoplasty, to complex face lifts, to knee or hip replacement surgeries, caesarean sections, wrist or shoulder surgeries can benefit greatly from postoperative acupuncture treatments. These treatments can often be administered immediately after the procedure and can even be performed at the hospital recovery room or patients residence. The treatments are not painful and dramatically improve vascular and lymphatic circulation around the incisions, reduce swelling and bruising, promote rapid tissue regeneration and healing. Here are some case studies of postoperative acupuncture performed at our clinic.

Female 58 Knee replacement

After the third day the patients dressing was removed, treatment was administered and a new dressing was replaced. After the fifth day the wounds were completely dry and no dressing was required. After the seventh day a visible improvement in the reduction of redness around the incision line, and the wounds were completely closed. Stitches were removed at day 7 and additional two treatments were administered every other day. Total Post Op recovery - 11 days.

Immediately after the patient was released from operative recovery, the first treatment was administered. Acupuncture around the swelling and bruised areas was administered for 20 minutes. An hour later a second treatment was administered for 30 minutes this time with additional full body acupuncture points. This was repeated for day two also. At day 3 a single 1 hour full body plus facial acupuncture was administered followed by the far infrared 655 nm light therapy for 20 minutes. The swelling and bruising dramatically diminished after day two and after day 3 only mild remnants of the swelling can be seen.
